The project of expansion of the existing complex of buildings of the Wielkopolska Oncology Center with the building of Amulatory Oncology Prevention, Molecular Diagnostics and Imaging at ul. Garbary in Poznań

The building of the Wielkopolska Oncology Centre introduces multidimensional links with the surrounding urban space, creating a new, coherent quarter of buildings. It integrates harmoniously with the existing urban fabric, continuing the frontage of the street and referring to both the historical and contemporary architectural context. In the immediate vicinity of the building there are valuable monuments, which are an important reference point for new developments.

The facade, with rhythmic divisions and strongly outlined orders, refers to the historical objects that surround it. The planned Oncology Center with a footbridge and the existing Hospital of the Wielkopolska Oncology Center form the gate of Garbary Street, opening towards the Old Town.

The building is finished with a mansard roof, which allows not only to subtly adapt to the scale of the surrounding buildings, but also gives the object expressiveness and character in the context of its exposed location. The structure acquires aesthetic coherence with the historical architectural forms in the area; at the same time it stands out from other buildings, constituting an important point in the panorama of the city.

The new hospital creates a coherent, functional microworld with a clear spatial structure. The interior of the facility has been carefully designed with zoning dedicated to healthy patients, returning patients, children and staff. This solution guarantees intuitive movement around the building, high comfort of use and safety of all users of the facility. The functional layout is centered around a central shaft, which includes a staircase, two through hospital elevators, a toilet block and installation shafts. The structure of the building allows you to freely shape the layout of the rooms within different functional blocks, providing great flexibility in the arrangement of space.

The main entrance to the building is planned from the side of Garbary Street, leading to a spacious lobby, which allows clear signage of entrances for different groups of patients. Functions dedicated to patients were distributed on the first three floors, while the upper floors were reserved exclusively for employees. The planned building will be connected using an overhead connector located on the +2 floor.

The compact, functional structure of the building and the applied technological solutions make the building environmentally friendly, with a low carbon footprint and minimal operating costs. The compact shape of the objecteffectively reduces heat loss, and carefully selected finishing materials, characterized by high durability and resistance to damage, guarantee the creation of the highest quality space. Thankfully, the need to carry out renovation and restoration works is limited to a minimum of ‍.
