Architectural concept of a skating rink hall and two ice halls for the Stegny Centre

The ice rink complex of the Stegny Centre is located in a unique place on the map of Warsaw — at the junction of the green wedges of the city, the vicinity of the Piłsudski Fort, the Family Plot Gardens and the surrounding residential buildings, both multi-family and single-family. This area already functions as a daily space, close to the inhabitants — full of paths, scents of nature and traces of sports history. The design of the new complex of ice rinks draws on this character of the place, developing its identity as an accessible, social space and inscribed in the urban fabric.

At the same time, the proximity of Gen. Władysław Sikorski Avenue gives the investment prestige and provides convenient access for athletes and spectators of sporting events. The complex, which includes a speed skating hall as well as hockey and figure skating halls, is a pioneering establishment on a national scale.

Incorporating a complex of ice rinks in the form of a gentle hill (using the existing layer of earth) not only visually reduces the scale of the facility, but is also a gesture towards the local community. The project acts as a bridge — it connects the park, allotment gardens and adjacent housing development to form a coherent whole. It is an architecture that balances the ambition to create a high-profile facility with a sensitivity to nature, history and the needs of the inhabitants.

Above the gentle hill rises a light, subtle roofline — its delicate outline softens the scale of the object, blending into the surrounding landscape.

The shape of the structure is optimized, the object is materially efficient and architecturally expressive. The structural system goes beyond a purely technical solution and becomes the defining element of the architectural identity.
