The main idea of the project is to connect the historic palace-and-garden complex with a contemporary approach to garden design and urban green spaces. On the one hand, the proposal refers to history by restoring the axial composition at various scales. On the other, it introduces elements of urban wild—vegetation that develops freely, yet within the simple, rigorous lines of a symmetrical layout.
Our goal was to create a space that encourages both learning and outdoor relaxation: the Garden of Knowledge, inspired by the ancient Grove of Academus and the first Botanical Garden of the University of Warsaw. It takes the form of a network of informal paths, green “rooms,” and open clearings.
The composition is completed by a mosaic arrangement of planting zones—ranging from the most representative areas, through spaces for rest, to wild zones located at the edge of the Campus.
