The new building of the Academy is a story of transformation — profound, multidimensional and symbolic.
The project is an attempt to transform the region's heritage — both tangible and intangible — into a new architectural quality, inscribed in the spirit of the place, but open to the future. It is a conscious transformation of the heritage of exploitation into an architecture of symbiosis.
The form of the building refers to the industrial landscape of the region — its characteristic geometries and structures. However, their original meaning is reversed: it is no longer a space for the exploitation of natural resources, but a space for reflection, creation and regeneration. The Academy becomes an instrument of change — a physical and symbolic vehicle for a new approach to the natural environment.
The new infrastructure does not exploit, but supports — both the environment and the community. The Academy becomes a place of discovery and production — knowledge, technology, materials that lead to a sustainable future. It is a space for experimentation and education, but also a symbolic marker of change — from the exploitation of resources to their responsible use.
Technical nature does not mean distance from nature — quite the contrary. The form, materials and way of functioning of the Academy are aimed at deepening the symbiosis with the environment. The building functions in the rhythm of nature: it stores water, uses solar energy, breathes and reacts to changing conditions. Green roofs, bioclimatic solutions and flexible spatial layouts are part of the idea of regenerative design. It's not just a low-carbon object — it's a structure that teaches how to live in harmony with the landscape and its rhythms.
The Academy is a space of transformation — not only of architectural heritage, but also of social consciousness. Former mining symbols become carriers of new values: regeneration, education and coexistence with nature. The Academy not only teaches how to act responsibly — it itself becomes a manifesto of this attitude. Transformation is not a metaphor here — it is a real change of function, meaning and value.
