New cultural cluster in a form of multilayered landscape
By exploring a relationship between picturesque Incheon – Geomdan landscape with emerging modern city we seek to envision a future, cutting-edge cultural cluster. Modern library merging with archaeological museum and green landscape context is to express powerful fusion of culture and nature. Thus the proposed structure is a multi-layered, sculptural space installation in a form of bridge. Composed of platforms and blocks it creates a stratified landscape of knowledge and culture integrated with diverse interior and exterior program. It offers a poetic scenery inviting to freely explore and experience a modern cultural centre.
Bridge as a metaphor for connections
The shape of the building aims to envision a bridge, metaphorically connecting variety of “intersecting”, “overlapping” activities and areas of culture, education, art, history and recreation through diversity of forms of exploration. The platforms form unobvious connections between various program zones (conference, library, museum, children space, education, archives, cafeterias, shop) and external – open air activities. They strongly integrate with “green belt”-hiking trail and adjacent lake park to form one integral – modern – living – vibrant cultural centre!
