There are number of town’s prestigious places located in close vicinity of the project site, which makes it a challenge to inscribe the new building into historical plan of Jan Kochanowski Square.
To enter into dialogue with existing buildings we have proposed a building which would fit in an urban puzzle scrambled by historical development. Both blocks of town hall and regional museum make frontage of the square and Jan Paweł II street characterized by compact development. Design process tries to mimic process of historical overlaying, scaling and diversity while avoiding straightforward imitation. Brick façade connects building scale to human scale and an invitation to explore the building further. Due to unique urban context designed block is directed towards square’s axis.
